This residential project is located in Givat Herzl, a decaying neighborhood south of the renewed Florentine neighborhood and east of Jaffa. Today the area functions mainly as a neglected industrial area. I started the project from a conceptual model to the concept of "living in the city". I chose to concentrate on the different types of residential apartments in the city - apartments that are a part of the public, community or private space. Apartments on the ground floor and apartments that are high. The plot I received for planning has a north facade to HaShach Street.
One of the essential values of the project, is the creation of heterogeneity in the residential structure by the various apartments in their size and orientation, some of which are an integral part of the public space, while the others have a more communal experience, since they face the shared yard with the neighbor building.
The staircase is a common balcony of all the apartments, and performs as an extension of the living space. The balcony creates a kind of shared living room. This area is the heart of the building and creates views among the apartments.
In addition, the café, located on the ground floor and on the first floor, participates with the staircase and the shared yard. This creates a variety of glances between glances between the shared balconies, the cafe, the yard and the street.
Planning the apartments - in the process I tried to find the balance between privacy and alienation. In order to do this, I used transparent and sealed materials and designed the apartments in such a way that they will have the private area, but at the same time they will experience the residential spaces, the street, yard or café.
