In this project I chose a plot opposite the spring square in Nazareth. This location, in front of a significant and historic square in the city, raised a fundamental question about the role of this project, and how the structure will contribute to the city and the square. In my opinion, the existing square has great potential, but does not function optimally today. Therefore, I decided that the role of my building is to give the square a wall and enclose it.
With the significant topography, i tried to create a number of yards that would create complexity in the compound I designed. I see this lot as an opportunity to create living where the city can be experienced and the sense of urbanity enters into the complex. The residence I designed consist of student apartments with a shared public space, apartments with 3-4 rooms suitable for roommates or young families. Some of the apartments face the main St of Paulos the 6th, and others face the compound yard or the residential area in the back.
The public use I chose to design is an extension for an Art and Design Campus. In my opinion, a use that will create a space that combines students in residential and commercial area, will contribute to the city and particularly to the Spring square.
My inspiration for the color glass facade came from the glass windows that characterize the churches. When visiting Nazareth, the city felt a little "gray" so I decided to add color into my project and create a facade of colors and reflection as in churches.
